Collective noun কাকে বলে উদাহারণসহ ও বিস্তারিত জানুন

যেসব noun বা বিশেষ্য কোন দল বা সংগঠন বা একাধিক প্রাণী বা মানুষ বা বস্তুকে বোঝানো হয় তাকেই Collective noun বলে।

Collective noun কি তা বিস্তারিত ও উদাহারণ সহ

কোন noun এ যদি একের চেয়ে বেশি প্রাণী বা মানুষ বা বস্তুর সমষ্টি বেঝায়, তখন সেটিই collective noun হবে৷ উদাহারণ সরূপ : Family, Team, Members, ইত্যাদি noun গুলোতে মানুষ কিংবা বস্তুর গ্রুপ বা দল প্রকাশ করা হয়েছে, কোন একটি বস্তু বা একজন মানুষকে বোঝানো হয় নাই৷ তাই এগুলো Collective noun.

Type of Collective noun (Collective noun এর প্রকারভেদ)

Animal (প্রাণী) জাতীয় Collective noun

• A flock of birds flew across the colorful sky.
• A curious colony of ants was busy building their nest.
• A team of horses pulled the carriage through the city streets.

People (মানুষ) জাতীয় Collective noun

• The cast of the play took their final bows as the curtain fell.
• A class of students listened attentively to the teacher's lecture.
• The panel of experts discussed the potential solutions to the environmental issue.
• A gang of friends went on an adventure to explore the forest.

Things (বস্তু) জাতীয় Collective noun

• The factory produced a daily output of thousands of shoes.
• A stack of pancakes was served with a dollop of syrup and butter.
• The museum displayed a stunning collection of ancient artifacts.
• A pile of books lay on the study table, waiting to be read.

Collective noun এর ব্যবহার

Singular বা Plural form এর ব্যবহার (Collective noun)

যদিও Collective noun হল একাধিক বা সমষ্টি গত কোন কিছুর নাম বোঝানো হলেও, কিছু কিছু অর্থগত কারণে Singular বা Plural উভয়ই ব্যবহার হতে পারে।

Singular Form

কোন collective noun এর আচরণ বা ব্যবহার যদি Singular Form এর মত হয় তখন এটি Singular হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হবে। যেমন:

• The team is practicing for the match.
• The committee has made a decision."

Plural Form

যদি কোন Collective noun plural form এর মত আচরণ বা ব্যবহৃত হয়, তখন সেটি Plural Form এ ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন:

• The team are all wearing their jerseys.
• The committee are divided in their opinions.
