Complex Sentence কাকে বলে?

Complex শব্দের অর্থ হল জটিল। যে বাক্য একটি independent (স্বাধীন) Clause থাকবে, এবং আরেকটি সহায়ক Dependent Clause বা বাক্যর অংশ থাকবে তাকেই Complex Sentence বলে। এই দুটি Clauses সাধারণত কোন subordinate Conjunction ("because," "although," "while," "since," "if," "unless," "when," "where," and "although." ) দ্বারা যুক্ত থাকে।

Complex Sentence এর ব্যাখ্যা ও উদাহারণ

উদাহারণ : After finishing his work, John went to the gym to exercise. এখানে বাক্যটিতে একটি স্বাধীন বা প্রধান clause রয়েছে, সেটি হল "John went to the gym to exercise." এই অংশ বা clause টি একটি স্বাধীন, কারো উপর নির্ভর করে না৷

আরেকটি অংশ হল "After finishing his work". এর অর্থ হল "তার কাজ সম্পন্ন করার পর" এই অংশটি পূর্ণ হবে না৷ এটি একটি বাক্যের অংশ মাত্র। এই কারণেই উপরের বাক্যটি একটি Complex Sentence.

Complex Sentence চেনার উপায়

Complex sentence চেনার জন্য নিচে কিছু নিয়ম দেওয়া হল।

• Complex Sentence এ একটি independent (স্বাধীন) Clause থাকবে
• আরেকটি dependent clause থাকবে বা বাক্যের অংশ থাকবে, যেটি independent clause এর উপর নির্ভর করে।
• Clause দুটি subordinate Conjunction ("because," "although," "while," "since," "if," "unless," "when," "where," and "although." ) দ্বারা যুক্ত থাকে।
• এই subordinate Conjunction টি dependent clause এর সাথে যুক্ত থাকবে।

• When the sun sets, the stars become visible in the night sky.
• Wherever he goes, his dog follows him.
• Although it's expensive, the quality of the product is worth it.
• Because the traffic was heavy, they reached the party late.
